Benefits and safe use of amber jewellery

flower child is one of the leading suppliers of amber necklaces in Australia - we sell hundreds of these every year. Our necklaces are sourced from Inspired by Finn.  We have chosen these necklaces as we feel they are far superior to others we tested.

The double knotting construction used in these teething necklaces means that if the necklace is broken, only one bead will be lost. We feel that this is essential when using jewellery on babies and children.

Whilst essentially sold as 'teething' necklaces to help with pain associated with teething, many parents are now purchasing necklaces for their older children complaining of 'growing pains'. Most necklaces can be sourced up to 15", so if we don't have your size or colour in stock, please contact us and we'll let you know if we can get it in.

Which one to choose?

Our most popular colours are milk & butter and honey and the most popular size is 12". If you can't choose, either of these would be a safe bet, or choose light mix - a combination of the 2!

We are always being asked which colour should be chosen, so here is a list to use as a guide, compiled from our experience here in the flower child shop. The list is by no means exhaustive, and every child is different, so just use this list to give you somewhere to start looking.  We've even linked every one, so you can go straight to the picture.

Olive skin and blonde hair: 4 colour mix, light mix chips (great on boys), light mix, milk & butter, pumpkin & butter,

cognac, honey, gold & milk, rainbow

Olive skin and dark hair: light green & black, honey, rainbow, 4 colour mix, dark mix, yellow

Fair skin and fair hair: milk & butter, light mix, honey, gold & milk, light green & black (especially on boys),

4 colour mix, light mix chips

Fair skin and dark hair: yellow, honey, cognac, pumpkin & butter, 4 colour mix, dark mix, rainbow

Red hair: cognac, honey, light mix, 4 colour mix, pumpkin and butter (for fair skin)

OUR BALTIC AMBER JEWELRY IS A UNIQUE PIECE OF HISTORY…THE AMBER BEADS ARE FOSSILS FROM AN ANCIENT FOREST WHICH EXISTED TENS OF MILLIONS OF YEARS AGO.

Baltic amber is not a stone, but a fossilized tree resin.  Historically, it has been used as a natural and traditional remedy and curative for many ailments for centuries.  Long ago it was considered one of the leading ‘medicines’ of its time.

When baltic amber is worn on the skin, the skin’s warmth releases trace amounts of healing oils from the amber.  To receive a therapeutic benefit, baltic amber cannot be in a metal setting – the amber must come in direct contact with the skin.

Baltic Amber has some of the highest concentrations of Succinic Acid found in nature, and this is what makes it so special.  Amber found elsewhere in the world does not contain these high concentrations.  Succinic Acid is a natural component of plant and animal tissues, and its presence in the human body is beneficial in many ways.

HOW CAN BALTIC AMBER HELP US?

Pain Relief

Baltic amber contains analgesic properties and helps take the edge off many types of discomfort.

For every discomfort we recommend wearing Baltic amber for, we have first-hand knowledge and experience, plus lots of happy customers to back our claims!  While we have read about many additional aches, pains, illnesses, and diagnosis that Baltic amber is said to be helpful with, we recommend only those we’ve personally tested and found to be tried-and-true.  With time will come the opportunity to expand our experiences, and we anticipate adding to the list of discomforts we recommend wearing Baltic amber for!

To help break a cycle of (chronic) inflammation

Where chronic inflammation is present, disease lurks.  When the body’s cells are chronically inflamed the human body’s immune system response is to increase production of free radicals.  Chronic overproduction of free radicals results in inflammatory-related disease.  Chronic inflammation is a common denominator of many seemingly unrelated diseases.

Restoring Energy

The human body naturally produces succinic acid.  The salt of succinic acid (succinate) is one of the most active substances in the processes of cellular respiration and intercellular energy creation.  Succinic acid restores oxygen and energy supply to depleted cells and helps the body return to a normal, functioning state.

Succinate is a raw material and a catalyst in the Krebs Cycle which is one of our main sources of energy.  During the Krebs Cycle carbohydrates, fats, and proteins are metabolised for energy.

Maintaining Wellness

When the human body reacts to stress, the body’s cells begin to use oxygen more quickly.  Oxygen plays a central role in the intercellular creation of energy, and a lack of oxygen can result in feeling lethargic.

Oxygen is alkaline-forming in the blood and maintaining a slightly alkaline blood ph helps keep us healthy.  Whenever the body functions in a state of low oxygen, it is much more susceptible to illness.

HOW TO GET THE MAXIMUM THERAPEUTIC BENEFIT FROM WEARING YOUR BALTIC AMBER:

  • The amber must make direct and continuous contact with your skin.

-  It cannot be in a metal setting that prevents contact with your skin.

-  Necklaces need to be tucked underneath a shirt, not worn on top of a shirt.

- Bracelets should fit like a watch and remain stationary on the arm; they should not flop around on the arm.

  • The amber should be worn as much as possible.

- For adults, 24 hours a day – 7 days a week (except when bathing) is ideal!

- For children, necklaces should be removed from the neck when the child sleeps.  In some cases some parents choose to move the necklace to the ankle just prior to the child going to sleep.  This is done by double-wrapping the necklace around the ankle, and placing a sock over the foot to keep the necklace stationary and warm- .

  • Amber should not be chewed on.

             -  Amber is soft.  Children should not chew on it, or the beads may break.

  • Wear Baltic amber as close to the site of discomfort as you can get it

- Wear a necklace for a headache, a bracelet for arthritis in the hands, etc.

If you do not wear amber close to the site of the discomfort, it is questionable if you will experience any relief.

  • Choose a light colour of amber.

- The lightest colours generally possess the greatest amount of succinic acid (and thus the greatest therapeutic benefit.)  Our “milk and butter” colour is considered to have the highest concentrations of succinic acid of all colours of amber.

  • Clean with lukewarm water and a soft cloth.

- Avoid detergents and cleansers as they leave a residue on the amber that interferes with its ability to release its healing oils into the skin.

  • Remove your amber:

- While you bathe;

- While in the pool, spa, or in other highly chlorinated water;

- Anytime you apply lotions, sunscreens, perfumes, etc., to the area where you wear the amber.   These substances leave a residue on the amber that will interfere with its ability to release its healing oils into the skin.

WITH PROPER CARE,

YOUR BALTIC AMBER CAN PROVIDE A LIFETIME OF PAIN RELIEF!
