Kitchen and Cooking Tips You Should Know
As mums, we are occasionally faced with kitchen dilemmas. Sometimes, we tend to fail to realise that the simplest solutions are often the best.
Today, I’m sharing with you 7 very useful kitchen and cooking tips and tricks I found all over the internet for fixing common kitchen problems.
Ants: Putting 3-4 cloves in the sugar container will keep the ants at bay. [source]
Bacon: No “curly” bacon for breakfast when you dip it into cold water before frying. [source]
Chopping: Use a wooden board to chop. It will not blunt the knife. Don’t use a plastic board, small plastic pieces may go with the vegetables. [source]
Dough in your rolling pin: Stick the dough between two pieces of wax paper or plastic wrap so nothing sticks to your rolling pin. [source]
Egg: To easily remove eggshells dropped into eggs, wet your finger with water before attempting to fish it out. You’ll be shocked at how easily it can be grabbed and eliminated. [source]
Or you can just use part of the shell you just cracked to scoop it up. he shell of the egg will adhere beautifully to it, like a perfect little magnet, saving you time, energy, and maybe even a little piece of mind. [source]
Floss in the Kitchen: Don’t just keep dental floss in your medicine cabinet. Keep some in the kitchen. It’s a great tool. Unflavored dental floss is often better than a knife to cleanly cut all kinds of soft foods, soft cheese, rolled dough, layered cake, and cheesecake. [source]
Garlic: This is a very detailed wikihow on How to Peel a Garlic Clove. There apparently is a “Knife Method,” “Water Method,” and “Microwave Method” in peeling a garlic. Interesting! But this by far is my favourite. It’s a fast and fun way of peeling an entire head of garlic in less than 10 seconds. Cool, eh? Check out this video: http://vimeo.com/29605182.
There are tons of kitchen tips out there! The way I have arranged these tips alphabetically tells me this is going to be a series of post about cooking. Hmmmm…
